The committee met to discus several important issues that have come up recently, and Neil will no doubt be posting the full minutes in due course.

We appointed Sue Lane as membership secretary. From now on all membership fees should be paid to Sue, who will issue a receipt and membership cards, plus a copy of the consitution. She will also chase up the Grif and Coton membership cards [included in membership of the Bowmen], which the social club has been very slow to produce, despite being asked several times.

Membership of the Bowmen runs January to January, so membership will be done on a pro-rata montly basis.

Neil will be sorting out a rota of field captains [who are key holders] to ensure two are present each Sunday.

The most important thing we discussed is the coming change in the constitution of the Grif and Coton, who are about to change their legal status. They are asking all the clubs to surrender their autonomy to come under the umbrella of the Grif and Coton, and will take control of all the clubs' assets. We are not convinced this would be a good move for us for several reasons:

1.] We will lose control of our assets.
2.] We have no guarentee of facilities within this new constitution. When we moved to the Grif we were given exclusive use of the old bowling club green and clubhouse, and told we could use the football and cricket pitches off season. Since then, the football club have moved into our clubhouse and use our green, and use of the cricket pitch and rugby pitch has been withdrawn.
3] The larger clubs call the shots and dominate the unity committee. We will actually have no say in what happens. We may lose our facilities enitirely.
4] We are not convinced of the financial viability of the new set-up.

In view of this, we have decided to call for more clarification from the Grif and Coton, and also to explore the option of a new local venue for the Bowmen.

I attended the Unity meeting last night. Despite it having been agreed that section rights and responsibilities be put on the meeting agenda, there was nothing prepared to present to us. We have now been told that some proposals will be forwarded to us, to be discussed at a future meeting.

Considering how close the date of the proposed Unity is, that isn't very helpful is it?

Are there any viable other options locally being considered and, if so, what are they?

Phil has some leads, and now I've finished all the Mercian rotas etc, I will begin to make some calls to likely local places, such as school playing fields and sports clubs.
